He started out by purchasing the carpet used in the molding operation from OEM suppliers such as Collins & Aikman, J.P. Stevens and Masland. Mass backing is a type of material that is heat bonded to the back of auto carpets. It is made of heavy material called Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA). This type of backing provides better sound protection and heat insulation compared to standard carpet backing. Take note that it cannot be applied to die cut pieces or cut-and-sewn carpeting.
