As for your automatic transmissions, you should change the fluids …. in all of them .Yes, BMW says the fluid is “lifetime”. Yes, the original fluid will last the lifetime of the transmission, be that 60,000 miles or 120,000 miles …. or whatever. When the transmission dies, the fluid had lasted the lifetime of the transmission.
E60 models have cooling fins on the diff, which makes access to the fill plug difficult. The plug is also quite close to the subframe (inset). I use a long 14mm Allen bit to access the plug. The fluid should be just at the bottom edge of the fill plug-hole. Top the fluid up if needed.
