I have a FJ40 that's been in the works for a while and is nearing completion. Have any of you flat-towed a FJ40 or similarly sized Jeep. I don't have the gross weight on the 40 yet, but its definitely more than stock (cage/37"s/etc), but under the Tundra's capacity.

Looking at the service manual for both of the manual transmissions (the older ones, I haven't looked at the new '16 MT), they are both fully splash lubricated. There are a couple of tubes that catch and distribute splashed oil (by gravity), but no actual oil pumps. If you have a 40' motorhome in a 45' site you couldn't leave the trailer on but you can usually park your dingy next to your RV. If you have a trailer, where are you going to put that thing? A trailer seems like a spectacular hassle if you were doing enough traveling to be thinking about modifying your Tacoma to flat tow.
